Etsuko Kanetaka
Etsuko is a Japanese, born in Yokohama Japan. She started her career at a start-up of a private equity firm in 2000, now one of well known buyout firm in Japan. She absorbed all the excitement of starting new business there and whenever she had time, she would be taking part in new business such as raising fund for US investment firm, supporting entrepreneurs of entertainment and film producing companies as well as learning about new business in different industry from multiple entrepreneurs. She continued her career in the finance industry for about 10 years until in January 2010, she took part in a start-up of a global tech company. She was the first employee to help the company to launch business from scratch. She has been taking the role to expand the company overseas. Throughout her career, she chose to be involved with startups and this is her profession and what she loves to do.

We have been actively involved in startups and are well experienced in starting business from scratch in multiple regions of the world. Throughout the career, we have been involved in project management of corporate expansion. Unlike other consulting firms in Japan, we do not just introduce and connect the clients to another consulting firms but work as a partner and manage the third parties on behalf of our client. We work side-by-side with the management giving hands-on support.
- WHAT DOES "JUNIVERSE" MEAN?
The name of the company Juniverse is a portmanteau word made by combining
“Japan” and “Universe”. The name comes directly from our company mission of bridging
Japan to the Universe and bringing foreign business to Japan and visa versa.
How we startedThere are many great things in Japan that should be out in the world but aren’t yet out there. There are many Japanese entrepreneurs interested in starting business abroad but have been hesitant. Same goes with the great things that are out there that haven’t come to Japan. Why?
According to our surveys, majority of the small to mid size Japanese company entrepreneurs have said it is the language and the cultural barrier.
